Help with 688i download

Just downloaded 688I h/k from amazon.com to a desktop running Win XP sp3. Installation appeared to go OK.

Upon running the program, the following happens:

1. Logo screen appears for only a few seconds then goes blank,
2. Desktop reappears in a different resolution setting, and
3. Computer locks up.

Please help.

Update:

Installed 1.07 patch and computer no longer locks up. However, I now get a "failed to load graphics" error message and the program closes and goes back to Desktop. Any ideas?

did you download the game as a whole or you download the patch, cause i think thats the lates patch for the game, and are you using win 7 or xp version of windows?
need more details to be able to help you.

Downloaded the games first. At that point, my computer would lock up whenever I tried to run the game. Then I downloaded the 1.07 patch. After the patch, it no longer locks up but gives the "failed to install graphic" message whenever I run the game and returns me to the desktop.

Running Windows XP sp3.

Facing a similar issue. After install I get the 'unable to install graphic' hassle. What gives? Is this a hardware issue or what?

Win Vista Home Basic sp1
Intell Core Duo 3GHz
GeForce 6800
2GB RAM

688 runs perfectly fine on my XP laptop from an old original disc install
(misplaced the disc)

Vaguely recall this glitch with 688 back in the day but for the life of me don't recall the resolution.

Ok i had the same problem myself, here is the deal install the game as usual and run it without the patch, if it runs then the patch is not working right, now if im not mistaking there are several patches for this game and the lates patch is not working right, so i think that what i did was i install just the english patch ver and the game works, so try it out and lest see whats happend, see i havent install and play this game in some time, but try and see, and then report back, good luck.
