Default Shippin up to... College

So this Friday I'll be heading off to Auburn University to study engineering (maybe, for now). And then on Monday I start a week-long orientation for freshmen NROTC midshipmen, which should be interesting...

Anyway, since there seem to be a lot of, ah, experienced () grown ups around here, and quite a few Navy folks, I thought I'd see if I could glean any tips from ya'll.

So, any tips/do's & dont's/college jokes?

1. Classes before beer.

2. Beer

The rest of the college experience follows after the beer.

Good luck and have fun. If I could spend my 4 years at the University of Maryland all over again I would in a heartbeat. Good times. I learned some stuff also.

Unless you take online classes. In which case you can do Beer, interrupted by some classes.

Yes. Don't become stuck up. Seems to be a common problem with freshmen in here, thinking they are all special and super intelligent because they are in university, have timetables and even cook their own oatmeal! Most of them seem to calm down by their second year, but some even graduate still looking down on anyone without a degree. Pathetic.

You are there to learn. And that doesn't mean just learning and forgetting what's written in the exam books. It's an opportunity that you won't likely get again, so use it.

And as others have said, remember to have fun too.

Nah, although I guess it might lead to something like it later. For now it's just pre-engineering with some Navy stuff Tuesdays and Thursdays.

First, it is spelled y'all

Second, don't end a sentence with "at". Example: Where is the car at?

Now let's not go crazy on the poor kid. It may be Auburn, but it's still Alabama. I doubt anyone will notice.
