Default Great to be here

Just thought I would say hello to all of you. I have been playing SH4 for a week or so on & off -great sim.
I'm more into reading sub novels fictional & historical.
A friend of my father's was in the Krigsmarine. He was lost at sea. Dad never got over it and had a difficult time talking about it. Dad survived the war as a machinist for BMW machining & assembling Folke Wolfe engines before given a gun to "protect the Father Land" He was captured by the Rangers and was kept out of harm's way as a platoon camp runner behind the lines till war's end & then released to find the rest of his family near Dueseldorf (there was an Andy Kruger movie that had that similar theme w/ Van Johnson in it)- He would say that the guys were similar to what you saw in Private Rayan, only they saw him as the young boy he was & not a soldier. Any of you vets ever have that happen for you? Dad passes away 4 years ago. I've always had a penchant for WWII.

Feel free to contact me if anyone wants to hear any more war stories from me about may Dad
