destroyer stopping completely

Sometimes a Wakatake destroyer will stop dead in the water and just sit there (would drift IRL), then power up and be on its way. Was this to stop engine noise so they could hear the hydrophones better (I'm playing TMO 2.14 wtw).

Did this happen in real life?

And it takes the mod to allow that. Stock does not.

Interesting, because they did that in stock SH3. I don't see why SH4 would have changed that.

They also would leave behind a "sleeper", quietly lurking, to catch you if you should surface.
