Problem finding aircraft carrier

Hello guys!

I'm on one of the first mission. my mission is to sink one Aircraft carrier. They have marked out where i have to search (south west for UK). And have been there along time! I have seen alot of battleships, but no Aircraft carrier.

Do you know where the best place to find it?

Blockade Germany?
Have you sunk the 5 ships already?
They look like transport carriers, a little confusing.
Armed merchant ships, infact.

The location of the 5 armed merchants is here:

As to the actual aircraft carrier, try the port of Plymouth, it respawns near there, either coming in or going out.
Be careful the bugger is heavily escorted!
That's where i found the carrier.

Hi, tricky one this one, I sunk mine south of Portsmouth, check to see if there's a plus sign next to the port, expand to see which ships are stationed, often you will see the Ark stationed there. I waited for more than 2 weeks, 15 km south of Portsmouth, and low and behold 2 carriers appeared one after the other in opposite directions (neither of which was the ark ). Note that the hydrophone will pick up a task-force from quite a distance, around 12-18 km. You have the option to sneak in to the port and sink one while it's docked, however you will often find that the game won't count this toward meeting your campaign objectives.

The thing to remember is that you don't have to complete all the missions to successfully complete this campaign, the campaign will automatically end on the 1st June 1940 regardless. Good hunting

I have sunk all 5 and I found my aircraft carrier! I did something quite clever, I saved just before I attacked him. Got a big problem escaping the warships. But after a while I managed to escape.

With the AMC's I just drive out behine her and used my deck gun.

Now I have done all 3 missions. But that is 1 star left. Do I suppose to wait til 1. March?

Hi, yes I believe it's around this period, If you are referring to the Werenlbung (can't remember exact spelling) battle of Norway mission. This becomes activated around March/April timeline. I activated this while docked, in the mission briefing instance, by clicking on the top left tab with the same label. Note that after a certain amount of time elapses you won't be able to complete the mission as you will not find any ships to sink. This is due the Brit's having to retreat from the area. This in effect is what happened to me, late May all I could find was 3 merchants who, to my surprise, were attacked by a German bomber. This happened while I was submerged and working on the torpedo solution. I quickly surfaced to find one in flames and the rest on the run. Sunk just one with the deck gun. Lol. I think the bomber let me know that there was no more finishing to be done here.

First thing I did when entering the carrier patrol zone was to sink a large merchant ship using 1 torp & deck gun, plotted acourse towards lands end and the carrier came in looking for me a day or so on the same course as me, but heading the other way.

Not sure if this was a game mechanic or just blind luck, but maybe someone on this mission could try sinking a large unescorted merchant using the deck gun inside the carrier patrol zone then wait to see if it turns up?

Yes that well might be the case, which might explain why 2 carrier groups appeared one after the other in my campaign. For the first carrier I fired 4 torpedoes and missed , was chased by 2 escorts but managed to evade them. Soon after another carrier was heard on the hydrophone, heading towards my bearing, coincidence? maybe maybe not.

My log:

(Navigation map, clicking on Plymouth shows the Ark Royal is docked)

17 Nov 1939, night time approached shallow waters 20km south of Plymouth

all stop

18 Nov 1939, 0500 periscope depth, and wait

...

18 Nov 1939, ~1700 the Ark leaves dock, general course: south

18 Nov 1939, 1815 Ark sunk

Note: escorts patrolling outside the dock seem to 'go to bed' at night, only to begin activities from around 0800; frequently aircraft sighted

You will find the Carrier at the following coordinates: 48 degres North by 7.7 degrees West. Ensure that you are submerged at Periscope depth, engines stopped and rigged for silent running. She will slide through with a task force protecting her at about 2200 hrs on the 22nd December 1939. Ignore the task force and concentrate your tubes (all 4) on her. Set Torpedo depth to 8M to ensure the kill. Once destroyed dive the sub to 60 Meters (plenty of depth here below keel as you have 200 Meters) and make your escape as the task force will begin hunting you down.
