Default A thing of beauty is a joy forever thread

I found this picture a few weeks ago of a stunning Russian warship. I suppose it's difficult to come to terms with for some, but this warship is beaut, like the spitfire this is one beaut that stands out from the crowd.

oh yes, makes a good wallpaper

Very nice warship indeed...but the picture itself?

Just doesn't look right. Still, has been shopped well, I'll give it that.

Don't think it's shopped, just a 3D render. Though a pretty good one.

EDIT: Well, okay, most likely it is shopped, but that's often done to make renders look better.

Obviously photoshopped, ship's too bright on this side. Also, think the sea & sky are fake.
At least the sky looks very close to a preset, program called Vue has.

Pretty nonetheless.

In fact, I have seen this render before. It's of a model of a Sovremenny class destroyer.

I think you might be right Comrade Raptor, it's a Sovremenny class.

http://www.3dloft.net/

Looks like it's a (very good) render which has been shooped into a sea background. Got to admit it's a very nicely done shoop and render.

Here's a non-shoop:

Personally, I have a weakness for the Slava class cruiser, damn it has a lot of SSM launchers But yeah, the Sovremenny class...had that thing stalking me quite a few times in my 688i, ping.....ping....ping...

Then it launches its Helix... PING PING PING Torpedo in the water bearing 271

Well when your naval air arm consisted of these you needed them!

There were missiles with greater range than these things!
