Default [REL]Depth-dependent hydrophone by TheBeast and Xrundel.

Idea and initial fundamentals by TheBeast, data manipulation and in-game final testing and adjustments by Xrundel.



Depth_Dependent_Hydrophone_1.0.0
is original release MOD that changes behavior of hydrophone sensors in SH5.

You have to understand that range is subject to change under different conditions (angle, depth, volume of target noise etc.). Also detection range usually little bit shorter than follow-the-target range (emulates that when sonar guy got target "locked" it easier for him to follow it for longer range until it disappears). Therefore listed below ranges are approximate. They will vary.


GHG (GruppenHorchGerat) -originally installed on boat. Covers 10-150 and 210-350 degrees around the boat.

Surfaced------------------17000m
Periscope Depth (12m)-----25000m
Depth 30m and below-------40000m (maximum range)


KDB (KristallDrehbasisGerat)- optional rotating device that eliminates blind spot on the bow. Covers 0-160 and 200-360 degrees.

Surfaced-----------------------0m
Periscope Depth (12m)------22000m
Depth 30m and below--------38000m (maximum range)

Balkon Gerat - optional device, better than previous two. Best coverage 0-170 and 190-360 degrees.

Surfaced-------------------17000m <========== There is typo in "readme" stating this range as "40 000 m" Please disregard.
Periscope Depth (12m)------27500m
Depth 30m and below--------40000m (maximum range)


KDB is not working when boat is surfaced - the way it really was (it's located on upper deck and is not in the water until you dive).


Real historically accurate ranges were 20 000 m for single ship and up to 100 000 m for convoy. Unfortunately there is no way at this point to make them different so we come up with ranges that are the best for the game play in our opinion.

This MOD is already included Periscope_and_antenna_historical_fix. If you prefer different periscopes height settings you can change it using Goblin Editor in sensors.sim file.

This mod supports latest (as for 05-24-2011) Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_ByTheBeast with 4 improved anti-radar and anti-sonar coatings.

This mod is fully compatible with:

NewUIs_TDC_6_5_1_ByTheDarkWraith

IRAI_0_0_30_ByTheDarkWraith

FX_Update_0_0_16_2_ByTheDarkWraith


Installation:
Unzip and drag folder into your "MODS" located in Silent Hunter 5. Use JSGME to install/remove.

This mod should be install last after any mod that was mentioned above or mods that JSGME warn you about "sensors.sim" to be overwritten! Also if you don't like game play with this mod (it would definitely change your strategy if you are still playing stock "vanilla" hydrophone) - it would be easy to remove it without re-arranging bunch of mods.

For KDB owners:

As you know you can't have hydrophone contacts revealed while cruising above the surface to the destination of patrol with time compression.
However... You will be able to drop TC to whatever you have set for enemy targets at approximately 11-12 km range. That's how pseudo-visual range have been increased. Just enough to process situation and come up with attack or run and hide plan.
Just be careful at night time and fog conditions - that range will drop significantly up to 2-3 times. But in other hand - same thing will happened to your enemy.

Also KDB is actually starts working on Shnorckel Depth (9.5-10m) when it got covered with water.

The one with Nozarious Skin in upgrades available at port, he just published it couple of days ago as far as I know.
In any case it will work with older version with no problem.

Surface range should be around 17 km. If you look at the picture - you can see South-East pointing line. It says: "17.0 km" on it. Group of ships like in this case can get little bit behind this range because game after certain distance treats it as a whole and mesures from center of such a group.

Balkon Gerat tested vigorously by me in my real campaign and I am very happy with the way it's working. Just perfect I would say.
Other sensors were tested for functionality and ranges.
