another I-have-no-idea question (printer expert needed)
I brought a PIXMA iP 4200 printer of trading site in NZ. The seller noted she misplaced the USB to Printer cord everything else came with the package mains lead, CD drivers (for windows xp) and a USB to Camera cord. Before I can start printing I need the USB to printer cord which connect to the pc and printer.
So before I go into town can I just go and buy any USB cord one that fits and this will be okay or do I have to buy the right type? (eg A Canon Printer USB cord or whatever) All USB cords are the same right? They all fit in the back of the pc unless its a camera or rather then the size would be different. No point asking the seller as she said she is not good with computers & selling it because she couldn't get it to work with Windows 7. I just downloaded the printer drivers for Windows 7 of the net. |

Unless it's some kind of oddball printer. A generic usb to printer cable should work fine.
This cable as an example. USB on one end and "look at pic of other end". http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...556&CatId=5416 |

Thanks Firewall , yes that's the one I need I took a look at the back of the printer just now and it has the same looking beveled square to the picture shown - one end is different to the other. Just as well cause I was going to buy the normal type USB cable.

Hi Kiwi
That was kinda a pricey cable I gave link to just for the picture. You should be able to find one for $10.00 or less. regards FIREWALL |

On a side note, have the printer on and ready and run the install disk/download first before plugging in the USB cord. Some installs let you know when to plug it in.
