Instate Tuition/Dream Act:

Any reason this is getting shoved up where the sun don't shine?

Illegal students who have attended three years of high school in the state of MD and parents having paid taxes are eligable for instate tuition.

The "Dream Act" allows students who are illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition at Maryland colleges if they have attended three years at a Maryland high school and their parents have paid state taxes.

Does this seem fair or right to those that are legal and paid taxes for generations? Does this open the door to other goodies for illegals? If the student and parents are here paying taxes why have they not obtained citizenship? Because things like the Dream Act do not generate any urgency to become a citizen! Why bother?

The way I see it the local government is aiding and abetting illegals.

They also give anybody out here drivers licenses...with a voter registration card.

Pleased to say for once that that isn't the case in the UK, well as far as university education is concerned.

Immigrants usually need sponsors because they pay far heftier fees for their education.

I sometimes wonder though...looking at the fees I'm going to have to pay for my daughter who starts University in September this year

Therein is my concern Jim. My daughter is going into the 11th grade. Now is the time to make plans for higher education and at a cost of course. There are now more fish (illegal) biting at the pie. Why should she suffer the consequences of illegals getting 'rights' to tax dollars funding instate tuition? She could potentially get the squeeze at the hands of an illegal. Something is extremely wrong with this picture. Illegal is...ILLEGAL! What is this talk of 'rights?' This bill has come on the heels of the state cutting 1 million dollars for scholarship funding. This was on the news today!!

Funny part is the spineless Maryland governor O'Malley.... hejust pulled that off the shelf because he is a moron. You do not give money to illegals Tuesday and then pull scholarships from deserving students Wednesday. What a dip....
