Default Cant get away from escorts in Magnum Opus

Its February 1940 and these suckers can always find me when submerged no matter what. I have on two occasions been at flank speed within a convoy shooting torpedoes into them, and when done I dive deep, shoot off a decoy (which is odd because I have no decoy launcher installed but I apperently can shoot em off) and hit silent run. Despite the fact the Destroyer has to navigate through a convoy of ships, despite the presence of sinking freighters near by and me on silent run (with my engineer bumped up 3 levels on silent running), the fkers sill find me always. They always find me and I can never lose them, no matter how many hard lefts and rights I do, no matter how many decoys I let off, no matter how deep I got. I have used the evasion script in script bar and I still can't get away.

The only saving grace is that at February 1940 they are not depthcharging below a certain depth (or they simply dont hit me when I go down to 190m). I ultimately end up going down as far as I dare, going to 1/3rd speed, go to my map and advance speed up to 520. Eventually they buggar off, but its hardly gripping cat and mouse. This works now (not that it is any fun) but it wont as the war progressed. If I can't get away from them at this point in the war then I am dead before my carreer can reach the end point.

I could get away from escorts in VII's in Grey Wolves for SH3, I could get away from Japanese destroyers in a Gato in SH4 Fall of the Rising Sun, but I can't get away from the god damn escorts in this game with this mod. They find me no matter what, even if I am submerged within a convoy surrounded by merchants, and the ships are bumping into eachother or scattering to get out of the way, they find me... ALWAYS no matter the convoy.

Anyone have suggestions? I would rather not gimp the AI but at the moment for whatever reason its simply impossible to get away from. I have no other mods that touch AI, only this one. I either need some tips or I need to gimp the AI to play because at the moment they just wont lose me.

Playing at 1.0 (or 100) difficulty settings is extremely hard. IRAI will kill you eventually (if not always) at those difficulty settings (and v32 will be even worse with the PT boats AI) . I would suggest lowering your warship hydrophone and sonar difficulty settings down to Max 0.9 (or 90) and Min to 0.75 (or 75). That will give you a good fight and if using good evasion techniques will allow you to get away. You can adjust the difficulty settings by editing the \data\Scripts\AI\init.aix file.

Anyone that can go against the warship AI with Max and Min difficulty settings at 1.0 (or 100) and live to tell about it is a god.

What is default setting? I've installed IRAI yesterday (with AirTorpedos) and finally airplanes start attacking me. Without suspecting much, I went for my usual good positioning- let the forward escort pass trough - submerge on periscope depth cherry pick best tonnage- shoot rear torpedo first and while it's reloading gun down two ships in front of me (two torpedoes for each) and then finish off the first one behind me convoy routine. Usually takes 100 seconds and on my way out I manage to hit another ship and get away.
Well.. this time it took me a lot of actions LOL. Maximum depth, shooting decoy while flanking and turning and shut off engines immediately after picking up max submerged speed after finishing sharp turn. Sliding a little bit on gained momentum and then lying low and quiet waiting for them to leave. Have to wait some time, like an hour or so.
I didn't make it first time - took boat below crash depth but second time I've got away.
If you still run the engines even in quiet mode - they still hear you. You won't get away.

There is a flaw in SH5 that has Escorts of all countries getting stuck in a loop near your boat (usually a few kilometers a-stern). THere is a similar problem with aircraft returnuing to your exact position over and over. They will remain there until you save and reload the game. I don't know if anyone's fixed this yet., but this problem combined with unrealistic A.I. settings will render the game unplayable.
