Just a quick piece of curiosity that maybe some of the more experienced/knowledgable may be able to help me with...
I've discovered that the observation periscope (with it's wide field of view and ability to look straight up) can be used to almost exploitive effect to avoid depth charges.... in most situations you can literally watch the mean people as they run past you and dump them into the water from your vantage point anywhere from 30 to 120 meters below... and as long as you've got enough juice left, you can easily throw the telegraph up to 'flank', and get out of the way... I've also used this tactic (exploit?) to more perfectly time my "jump back to the service and plug him with a torpedo, for being such a turd". Is this a legitimate and/or historic tactic at all, or am I being cheap? The primary concern that *I* would have is that I'm not sure if the Scopes were designed to be used at depth (I should think 30 meters or so would be fine... 140m+ would seem risky at best to my uneducated self)... Any thoughts? |
