Default Anyone currently playing Combat Mission 1?

I've gone back to installing all three of them because of World of tanks.

I'd love an online friendly and casual match using the TCP/IP play.

PM me if anyone is interested.

Damn CM1 still charms me too.

Bumping this thread.

No real men who play real war game?

Can't believe this. Combat Mission 1 is fantastic(the feel and gameplay are great) and I'd consider it a real man's war game .

Real wargames have square counters and hex maps.

I think I still have Barbarossa to Berlin, but it's not installed and I doubt I could find it for a while.

Doh Combat mission is a real wargame for PC

I'm tempted to get another wargame boardgame, Conflict of heroes: Kursk. But nowadays no one is available to play with me and it costs around 3 solid PC game as well. Me and my perversion with cards, counter and board map . . . . . . though my collection is mostly not classic wargame.

Ah the Combat Mission 1s are the golden era.

Imo gameplay wise it's better and so much lighter on resources too.

it may not look that much but somehow still looks decent and even pretty in its own way.

The feel is that you're really watching a real battle. There's no awkward moments that you see in Shock Force where you hoped that the soldiers got to prone or take cover earlier or as soon as they left their APC instead standing up doing nothing and getting mowed down by gunfire. Of course it's becasue CM 1 is a much simpler game but they work and work beautifully at it.

Have played Barbarossa to Berlin and Afrika Corps, and really enjoyed them. Sure the graphics were not the best, but it was more about the strategy than anything else. Nothing better than carefully planning out your forces moves only for it to go pear shaped.

May have to start playing them again, but will they run on Windows 7?

Cannot agree with you more.

They had problem running on Vista and Battlefront made a pay patch for it but the good news is they run flawlessly on 7!!

IIRC I could run it on my Vista-tainted notebook without any problems a while ago...
