Default Free Portal 2 Copy

I have paid off the PS3 version of Portal 2, because it was my first choice for the game. On Friday I purchased the PC version too, because of the possibility of getting it early.

Well, I just found this part out:
Quote:
With Portal 2 releasing in just a few days on the PS3, a lot of gamers are wondering the limitations that they might have on the FREE Steam copy packed with the game.
Every brand new PS3 copy will include a voucher code inside the game. The question is, does this mean that I can give this to a friend that has Steam account so that we can play together? Yes, the Steam voucher code that is included in your PS3 copy will act as a stand-alone game.
When you get the voucher code, you can do whatever you want with it: you can sell it to get your money back, or give to a friend. The code isn’t DRM’d or bound to you, so giving it to a friend is quite possibly the best option as it will allow you guys to play the co-op with each other.
It’s much like a buy one get one free deal. The code to download via Steam is only available for the PS3 version of Portal 2.
Long story short, I have 3 copies of Portal 2. One of these is extra and I can give it away. So I'm announcing that I'm giving it away. I guess I'll turn this into some sort of competition.

Edit: It may not be giftable. I'll get back to this tomorrow. The biggest thing about this is the FU---moment when I realized I didn't need to spend the extra $40.

It's not giftable and is tied to your PS3 version/PSN ID.

It is also only redeemable once. Cancel your PC version purchase.

Shame really, as I don't have a PC capable of running Portal 2 my redeem will go to waste.

I do like the Steam integration on the PS3 version, we can play co-op and chat with anyone on our PS3 Friends List and anyone on your Steam List. Cross platform play FTW.

Isn't it a bit too late? It usually takes 24-48 for them to cancel.

Edit: I also already gave away the free portal copy.

Yeah, you're stuck with a Standalone PC Version now.

Ah well. I feel portal 2 was worth the money. I would've bought a CE if they had one.

You need two Steam accounts involved to play multiplayer online. You can't join yourself on PC with PS3 using the same account at the same time. It's mostly a technical issue where various systems just don't expect a single player with the same SteamID to be joining his or herself.

On PS3 your wife can just create her own local user profile, PSN account, and new Steam account and join you on your PC copy. You can still have your local user profile and PSN account linked to your Steam account on the PS3 as well.

Valve employee in the steam forums.

So I think the PC code does let you gift the game.

Just finished playing an hour of the game. This was worth the wait(and the extra $40). GLaDOS is really mean this time around.

I have four hours under my belt. Don't know how much farther I have to go.

8 hours is decent. Some rumors floating around that you can get through it in 4 hours, but aparently that would require a true "speedrun".

Which leads me to a point: lot of nonsense going around about the game. And aparently /v/ (what is that anyway?) board has taken it upon themselfs to drag the game down on its Metacritic rating.

So, yeah, haters gonna hate. Pathetic bunch of <insert personal preference>.

Ah, that. How does that still exist anyway? You'd think it would be hacked to hell and back by now.
