Default radio messages

Hey guys. I have a few ?'s about radio messages.

When I'm out on patrol, and there are all these messages going back and forth from command and other U-boats, as well as things like ships sending SOS's and such, are these real things that are actually happening? Or are they just for color?

I got one saying that I should be careful because there were Kriegsmarine surface units in a certain area. Does that mean if I went to that area I might see (for example) the Bismark on the high seas? Please tell me yes, that would be sweet.

Are historical naval actions represented, like say the battles of Narvik, or even non-historical ones?

Sometimes a message will talk about a certain area designated by a number instead of the two letter codes. How can I tell where that is referring to?

Yes and yes...

On the one hand, the various SOS type messages and reports of damage to fellow U-boats are primarily for color purposes. On the other hand, if you're running GWX with a mod (such as WB's Mission Orders 1.2) you'll be alerted via radio message to actual scripted events that are about to take place.

In GWX, you get tons of "immersion" messages. Many find them quite tedious and install the WB Mission Orders Lite mod. After you install that, you will only receive relevant messages.

Historical naval actions are represented in GWX. The GWX manual discusses the ones covered. Narvik is one of my favorites, though it is a bear to beat!. 5-6 destroyers in a narrow, shallow channel on the 10th... and then more destroyers, a battleship and planes on the 13th.

Have fun!

Is that Mission order compatible with GWX? Because that sounds awesome!

So just in the missions, then, not the campaign? I can live with that.

Yes, it is compatible (it was invented for GWX). And yes Narvik is in the campaign (though once it starts, of course, the outcome may not match history).

Mission Orders Lite is at: http://www.mediafire.com/?z4zznx4wzka
This will give you important messages plus ones specific to events scripted in GWX. If you get a message about a certain event, it will be happening and there are only 228 messages throughout the campaign.

Mission Orders is at: http://www.mediafire.com/?cz2y2nzoolg
This will give you the info above plus news messages about events as they happened in WW2 - the best way to describe it is like a small history lesson through your radio messages.

When it comes to standard GWX messages:
If it is in lat and long it is immersion
If you get a grid (e.g. AN46) then it is scripted.

I'd certainly recommend the WB Lite mod if your relatively new to the GWX mod because as already stated...."it will be happening" ingame.

I was wondering this for a long time. I was trying to figure Lat and Long on the map and arrived there and nothing was going on

Thank you!
