Default Autism Awareness Day 2nd April

I though i'd remind everyone that April is the month of Autism Awareness.

I work with 2 Autistic persons once a week at my work, through a special program which gives Autistic persons a chance to get involved and give valuable contributions in the workplace.

Did you know ...
  • Autism now affects 1 in 110 children and 1 in 70 boys
  • Autism prevalence figures are growing
  • More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes & cancer combined
  • Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S.
  • Autism costs the nation over $35 billion per year, a figure expected to significantly increase in the next decade
  • Autism receives less than 5% of the research funding of many less prevalent childhood diseases
  • Boys are four times more likely than girls to have autism
  • There is no medical detection or cure for autism

That video is a awareness clip from 2007 but the point is still the same!

Also if you would like more information about Autism, go here

Educate yourself about autism. Help support to end autism.

My wife works with an autistic boy everyday. Great kid. His thing is math. His mathmatical abilities are astonishing.

Had experiences with a number of autistic students during my K-12 years. Good to always shed some light on it.

Didn't see this bump. Good thread. The diagnosing of autism is really tough, as there are a lot of symptoms.

Then there's aspbergers (sp) autism light.
