Default Wind and storm noise inside U-Boat

Hi guys,

I'm just wondering if anyone else has this problem; when you can still hear the noise of the wind and rain when in all screens aswell as the bridge, and even when inside the control room and submerged. This seems to happen to me a lot, and I wonder if there is a way I can stop this without having to reload the game.

It's a known bug. IIRC, the GWX manaual notes that it can sometimes be fixed by a sound card adjustment, but I cannot remember the details. It's in there, though.

The GWX manual is a monster and I've only managed a skim through so far, but I found the part you mentioned, thanks for pointing me to it.

This only happens to me when I minimize during a storm, maybe that's what causes the bug.

Sounds like you're referring to this, (from the GWX manual):

"Sound Issues

You should hear the whistling from high winds only on the bridge; however, you can sometimes hear it at every crew station inside the U-boat, even when you are submerged. This is a known Silent Hunter III issue with some sound cards that you can usually alleviate by using the Windows Control Panel (Sounds and Audio Control panel) to reduce by one level the degree of hardware acceleration used by your sound card. Failing that, you can correct the problem at least temporarily by saving your game and then exiting and restarting Silent Hunter III."

Ooooh. Yeah, I remember that section, and that is what I was thinking of. But I recall a more detailed discussion, which must have been on a thread, then. Apologies to the OP for only half-answering.
