Default Gnu Backgammon not liking Windows 7 64 Bit ?

Nice, free Backgammon that is. Unfortunately both old and nwer versions seem to be somewhat incompatible with Windows 7 64 Bit, or am i the only one? I have graphical problems, cannot use 3D boards, and sometimes the board is not there at all, just a white screen, or all textures get lost by the program.

Anyone knowing anything about this? This is a very good, rocksolid Backgammon player, with cool graphics and tremendous capabilities. It would be a shame to lose it.

I think you have no choice. I tried it about 2 days and didnt get it to work. Now I play GNU backgammon spielen with my old XP PC and it works as usual. That's a pitty.

Welcome aboard these forums, Suppinger.

Do oyu know of a forum board where the programmers/developers are occasionally visiting?

I currently can run one 2D board and then I have the functionality of playing, seen that way I rescued at least the crew from a damaged ship. But I would like to get their input on what is causing these problems with 3D, and whether they have the intention to adress them in the forseeable future.

It is a shame to leave this program in this poor state. It is a benchmark title for Backgammon, and I use to play the occasional match quite often.

Solved. I tried a tip to reduce every gfx-card option like AA and AF to see if this would help, and it did. I do not know which setting exactly it is, but I marked the title in the gfx driver to be run with all options set to off or minimum. Rendering a 3D backgammon board does not require any magical stuff, so there is no loss in visual quality from doing so.

Nice!

"Irish Gold" scheme

And this scheme I did myself, it matches the colours of my own backgammon case 100%:
