SH3 w. GWX: Black screen with music and mouse cursor trail

Well can't get the title more descriptive.

Dusted off my SH3 DVD, installed it. installed GWX. got past the...uhhh.. starforce idiocy. I see the opening movies and screens and get into the game menu.

Except it's totally black, only the cursor is visible and it leaves a 'trail'when i move it.

Can hear the music fine, so the game IS running.

Have been extensively searching but can't find an answer to this particular problem. Anyone has a clue?
- Updated drivers
- changed resolution

didn;t work.

Multiple monitors, windowed mode?

Which menu specifically? (better yet, whats the last menu you see?)

Hi Gargamel,

It's the very first menu after the intro movie ( I think the one with the periscope?).... also i only have one monitor (Laptop).

On the Steam site there's a thread with the same issue, but as sated earlier, i have the DVD emea version.

Hope someone has a clue......
