Most of you will remember that option which IMHO was the most realistic tradeoff between having things too easy with auto targeting and having to do all things yourself with manual TDC. I just thought its the most authentic way to aim at a ship and then let your WO do the calculation for the torps.
I noticed this feature was absent in SH4 and 5, but the command is still in the WO menu, so is it possible to bring this ability back, along with the "identify target" option? |

In the MO (mega mod) by TDW the WO will ID targets for you.
There is also an automation script (by clicking the automation button on the right side of screen) that will inform you of the target range and AOB. This can then be manually entered. I think it comes under "Tutorials-Sub-Tell Me Range and AOB" in that auto page. |

There is not really one, just a button to send range and bearing to TDC and one to use the stadimeter. Problem is I really suck at manual TDC and always get something like 350 knots calculated for speed.....ever sunk a 747?

![]() There are some in game tutorials within TDW's MO that take you through manual target step by step in a test mission. A good first stage is the "fast90" one. It is very easy and works everytime. There are also tutorials for getting Range, AOB and Speed. Try these when you are used to the fast90. |

Another thing I ask myself is how to engage multiple ships in a convoi with manual TDC, like they also did in das Boot. Practivally you have to find the range for every ship, write down the info you get including speed of the convoi, because the game does not save them, and re-enter them for every target, while stadimeter is almost useless in high seas....

For example i try to be like as close as posible to 90 degrees to the convoy cource... if i want to hit more sheeps in the same column i use fast 90 degrees... if i want to hit diferents ships in diferents position than i can make some erorrs in range because i am close to 90 degrees from convoy cource in havy seeas i understund that the uboats do not used to hunt... they waith for a better weather... i just saw an movie (convoy hunt series from bbc) and an wolfpack submerged for 3 days at 60 metters and waith to storm pass and after that they started to hunt the convoy that they were follow. Anyway if i can not use my stadi (heavy fog or very bad weather... i use 4 bearing methosde and i hunt only by hydro... someethime i have good results somethimes not) |

For attacking convoys with stadi etc - then all ships are at the same speed, so you only work this out once. The AOB, when set on the TDC with one ship, will auto adjust as you turn scope to next ship. So again you only do this once. For range - the stadi does work in heavy seas if you are under water. So all you do here is quick stadi on one ship - fire Turn scope to next ship - quick stadi - fire And so on. It is very easy when you get used to how the TDC works(the tutorials show you this). ![]() Perhaps I should do a convoy attack tutorial ![]() Edit: didnt see your post there Stoianm |
