Could someone explain me...

I noticed that a ship looking like a Liberty cargo can sometimes wear a red and blue strip on its hull length and sometimes when you destroy them tells you they are....Liberty cargo, large steamers or steamers...How do you know when is one or another ? It's very confusing...especially for that mission in Happy Times when you need to send to the bottom the war supplies ships... I read some threads but they are contradictied each other , some say to look for tank and green box , some say there is no such things, I looked , too, and I can confirm there is no such things and I sunk 8 until now. Some pics would be great to clarifiy this.
One more thing, I checked the museum part, and there are not all the cargo ships. Where are , in game, the Pinguin etc ships ? I guess the recognition manual was made with the idea they will implement all those ships saw there. Or not ?

I got it, finally, the war supplies ships actually they HAVE tanks and trucks on their decks. I guess I didn't pay attention too close.
