Default Green bars have disappeared!?

I've just added OLC Gold and ACM reloaded for OLC + ACM Lite to my GWX SH3 install. Everything seems to be working fine except that the green efficiency bars from the crew management screen have vanished. This is not a biggie for me as I play with crew fatigue off, and I know how many guys and what qualifications I need to keep these areas running smooth. But I was just wondering if there was a simple way to get them back, and wether this is a known minor issue, or if this is a sign of some terrible game breaking instability which will do something awful like corrupt all my save games further down the line.

Nevermind, I was reading some threads and found out the mod includes some kind of realistic repair time fix, which also disables the green bars. So all is well!

Although, I do wonder if there is a way I can get my watch officer to call out range again with OLC, I know he's far too accurate and can be considered cheating, but sometimes I'm too lazy to do everything myself!

No shame in having your crew do the work they were historically supposed to be doing.

Damn right, me and my WO1, we used to be such a team! ::sob::

Anyways, the shiny new aob wheel thing seems pretty useful and not too confusing, and I love how the mods actually give you a reason to use the observation periscope, but I can't find any tutorials on the new rangefinder lines on the UZO.. can anyone explain how to use them or can point me in the direction of a guide?

Don't you multiply the mast value by whichever UZO line the ship is under?

Not 100% sure.

Since when does the Watch Officer not provide range in a visual report? He doesn't provide it when something is detected. (just the crude range indication) But he does if you ask for the nearest visual target!

As long as you don't over-use him it's not a cheat.
Consider him to have called the QM to the bridge with a stadimeter.
If you want to take it further, wait 2 or 3 minutes after an initial sighting before asking for the closest visual contact.

But remember in the real world you can make a judgement on distances. On a computer screen you have no depth perception, and thus can't.

You either get better information than you would by using the WO.
Or, you get much worse information than you would by not using him.
There is no perfect solution. Personaly, in this case, I prefer "too good" over "too bad".

Watch officer distance to nearest target shout outs are something that the ACM reloaded mod disables to make the game even more challenging.

Had me stumpt for a while when I first installed it, but I brought them back by applying a simple edit detailed in the ACM mod thread (which I initially didn't bother reading). All you need to do is edit the data\menu\en_menu.txt file with notepad. For example if you open the file up you can change this:

4616=Nearest visual contact at bearing %03.0f, range %.0f meters!
To this:
4616=Nearest visual contact at bearing %03.0f!

And then your 1WO will stop giving you range reports, just the targets bearing.

It seems there is a lot you can mess with in that file...

But anyways... I'd totally recommend the OLC and ACM GUIs, can't go back to SH3 without them now. You can check out Frontier359's very cool 'let's play' vids if you want to see them in action...

Good find. It's nice how customizable this game is.
