Anyone remember during the beginning of the Das Boot patrol, the captain wanted to test the sub. He pushed it rather hard beyond the test depth, everyone was sweating bullets. Does anyone else do this ? Is it a valid test of hull strength given the algorithms of SH4, or is crush random?

So... you're not using TMO! And picked up a new construction?
Because if you do, your first orders will be to take the boat out for a shakedown test, which among other tasks includes finding crushdepth. Or at least as far as you dare... ![]() Worst experience ever! ![]() |

Problem is with SH4, once you pass that fine line, you're dead. Maybe you just need to go to the red line, not further to find crush depth, because if you find it, you're dead...no pulling out of it.

Yes, Im using TMO... I don't recall seeing that mission... Im also running the RSRD....

Yeah, that one ruins the fun...
![]() But short instruction: order a dive and enter control room. Slowly take her deeper while inspecting the "walls". Pay attention to the noise as well. If she starts to leak, you're probably too deep, but I'll bet your nerves will break before reaching that point... |

The sea trails in TMO were written before the change to crush depth was made, and the mission text never updated to reflect the change.
