Advice for a mod

I want to mod the old SH4/SH3 'auto-lock' into SH5, I think the new 'line up the dots' is crap. Any advice on how to begin? I've read the tutorial for the Goblin editor but I'm still confused. Should I look in the Submarine GD2 files or Sensors (closest I could find in the objects folder that was related to pericopes/UZO).
