Salutations.
I hear tales that the first Mediterranean campaign has some troubles, making it difficult to progress through it (something like an objective is hard to accomplish), and I would like to know if this is correct. If it is correct, is there a workaround, or otherwise a way to progress along the med campaign despite this problem? I am still in the Happy Times for now, and look forward to doing a Gibraltar run and seeing the Med. Itkovian |

I was hoping for more specific information on the problems with the Med campaign, and how to avoid them.
Does anyone know what the problem with the med campaign is, and how to avoid it? Thank you. Itkovian |

Bad script, most of the campaign is based on hunting capital ships. Problem is that ur the captain of a u-boot, not Bismarck.
Finding the required capital ships is a major pita. Finding anything else that task forces is also a pita. The whole campaign is a pita. Skip it. |

Are the later med campaigns good, though? Or are all the med campaigns problematic?

I did only half of the Mare Nostrum then quit. The only fun moments were around Malta where the Luftwaffe had constantly raided the port and huge AI vs AI battles broke out.

Ah, I see. So if I wanted to go to the med, I should edit the campaign to change/remove some of the requirements then?
I'm afraid the tutorial is too "stream of consciousness" for me to really understand, quite frankly. I don't suppose I could get simple instructions on how to skip those mission objectives (or make them easier)? Itkovian |

1. skip the entire campaign - install Open_Horizons mod, then chose start a new campaign - when prompted on screen just type ''silentotto'' and after that you can start the next campain (means skip the one that you do not want to play). 2. you play the campaign as you can and, at the end, you modify your campaign.cfg from saved games - as it is explained in the pdf document that i shared for you in post #2. If is bothering you so much the med campaign (and you think that you are not able to manage editing your campaign.cfg), just start to play as you can and when you are almost finish (i am speaking of end date of the campaign) just give me a beep and i will modify for you yours campaign.cfg Best regards! ![]() |

As for modifying the campaign.cfg, I must admit the formatting of the tutorial is rather confusing. Is there a specific part of it that I should look at to find the precise steps needed to edit that part? Itkovian |

The campaign.cfg tha i need to modify is located in: C:\Users\pc\Documents\SH5\data\cfg\SaveGames\00000 000\Campaign-2011-01-27_2221 You must to modify only when you are in bunker (so we supose that you finish the campaign and you are not able to complete all patrol). you will exit on the main menu - then the campaign.cfg (that we will modify) will be placed in wrigt location. Open the campaign.cfg (as example i will list the one from total germany): i have these lines: [Campaign.CampObj] Name=Campaign.CampObj.Name ValuePointsRequired=5 ValuePointsMajorVictory=8 DateMajorVictory=19400601 DateHistoricalVictory=19400601 IsCompleted=false change with ,,true,,(change that only after you finish the holle campaign) IsFailed=false DateOfCompletion=0 in that campaign i was not able to finish the patrol ''TG_British_Coastal_Waters'' where i was suposed to sink 25.000 tones of ships - then i will change these lines: [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5] ObjectiveID=TG_British_Coastal_Waters Name=Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.Name MapZone=Coastal_Shipping ValuePointsProvided=1 FurtherInfo=Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.FurtherInfo StartDate=19390901 EndDate=19400601 IsCompleted=false change with ''true'' IsFailed=false IsUnlocked=true GenAchiev=OBJ British Coastal Waters Succesful AssocMissionsActive= AssocMissionsCompleted= ObjActivationAchievements=OBJ Invasion Of Poland [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1] PersObjType=0 Name=Sink_25,000_tons_on_the_British_Eastern_Coast Description=Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.Description RelatedMapLocations=Line_BCW IsCompleted=false change with ''true'' [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.Amount] IsTonnage=true Tonnage=25000 NumOfShips=0 [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.CrtAmount] IsTonnage=false Tonnage=0 NumOfShips=0 [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetType 1] Type=102 TargetType=1 [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetType 2] Type=101 TargetType=1 [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetType 3] Type=103 TargetType=1 [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetType 4] Type=107 TargetType=1 [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetType 5] Type=108 TargetType=1 [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetType 6] Type=109 TargetType=1 [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetIdentif 1] TargetIdType=1 ToNode=Methil FromNode=Bergen [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetIdentif 2] TargetIdType=1 ToNode=Methil FromNode=Southend [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetIdentif 3] TargetIdType=1 ToNode=Southend FromNode=Methil [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetIdentif 4] TargetIdType=1 ToNode=Southend FromNode=Tyne [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetIdentif 5] TargetIdType=1 ToNode=Methil FromNode=Narvik [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetIdentif 6] TargetIdType=1 ToNode=Narvik FromNode=Methil [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetIdentif 7] TargetIdType=2 MapZone=Coasta_Traffic [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetIdentif 8] TargetIdType=2 MapZone=Coasta_Traffic2 [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetIdentif 9] TargetIdType=2 MapZone=Coastal_Traffic3 [Campaign.CampObj.MacroObj 5.PersObj 1.TargetIdentif 10] TargetIdType=2 MapZone=Coastal_Traffic4 Save the file then go in main menu in the game - load game - load your ''autosaved enter base'' or something like that (your newest saved). Go to the officer to ask for a new mission and you will see that the patrol TG_British_Coastal_Waters will apear now as oyu are completed succesfully. That is all! ![]() Last edited by stoianm; 01-29-11 at 04:17 PM. |
