Default Shimmering graphic objects??

Im finding various graphics in the game, shimmer!, for instance some of the trees when viewed via binos, some merchant details on the side of the ship, when viewed using external camera, some pipeing / cables / pictures etc inside the U-boat, and most annoying, the New Emblem i graced the boat with!!

Its not everything, but it is annoying...any ideas?

GFX card issue maybe? Have you got the latest drivers is the generic response to these issues?

This would also happen in vanilla SH5, but to a much lesser extent.
What mods do you have installed ?

Mods are:

Mega_Mod + both patches
Nvidia missing lights
MRP 8x5 ratio (scope) included in Mega_mod
Rundfunk radio mod
A fistful of Emblems

I've played a small session with my G-card clocked at stock settings, and the same result occurs. Interestingly i just tried with V-sync on....wow what a difference to smoothness!!!. having never had the pleasure of owning a G-card that was able to pull such high frame rates, V-sync is something i've never used before!

I did;nt use it with SH5 either, because it was my understanding that unless you could carry all FPS in game above 60fps it would become teribley slow and half the FPS rate.....interestingly, with V-sync on i have now lost the 'Stuttering effect' we discussed in the other post, and areas like undersea, where i would come short of 60fps, are just reading as normal ie either 60fps or 52fps etc

So totally smooth with no mass drop in FPS..result. Anyway back on topic, there are certain shimmering objects in-game, dont get me wrong, its not that bad, but strange that certain things do?

Interesting, good to know. Thought this is a common bug in SH5 that will affect only those using nvidia cards and the v-sync is not much use than dramatically drop the frame rate. Thanks for sharing.

Yea, im supprised at the difference...when viewing external at a typical U-boat pass, it now rolls past with perfect detail and smoothness!!, the problem before i think, is that my 24" monitor refresh rate is 60hz, thus ideally your FPS should be 60FPS to match.

Of course my G=card was spitting out about 60-85fps at sea, then the odd sudden burst of 100fps causing the stuttering effect that annoy's so much, now its limited to 60FPS, but allowing lower fps in certain situations its all good!!

It comes with either Patch 1 or 2, i cant remember which, with the TDW Mega_mod.....to be honest, im not sure which lights were missing... i thought maybe neutral ships which i noticed did not have their lights on, but this is still the case i noticed after blowing a Russian merchant out of the water at night, after it revealed my position on the radio and i thought it was French...

...."Thats my story your honour, and im sticking with it"

Is what is being described the z-buffer?

I had issues with this before the last reformat. some parts of the ship would flash a black texture. The problem got worse at some point. I dono much beyond that, but there is a checkbox for something related to the z-buffer in your graphics card control panel. perhaps try a different driver?

Hi !

Now I´m a little bit confused ?

I´ve an nVidia GTX 260 with Driver 260.99 on Win7 64bit 8 GB RAM. What is the best setting in the SH5 Options-Menu: V-Sync on or off ?

Best regards,
Magic

I tested both: for me seems to work better with V-Sync on!

v-sync on is always better as it reduces the 'tearing' effect The human eye only needs 27-30 fps (POV) to interpret single 'slides' as animation.

From what i have read on other forums flickering textures are a fact of life with graphics cards these days .
