Default Whiskey Sour, No Ice

What to do on a Sunday night? Hum-dee-dum-dee-dum. Hmmm....

*tappity tappity tappity*

I know! I'll start another boozehound thread!

Please rise for the ...

So every few months I treat myself to a bottle of whiskey. Usually something on the cheap like Black Velvet. I don't like it straight unless it's Jack or Jimmy B.; those two particular brands possess the right flavor for the straight shot, and are for special occasions.

Anyway, most of the time I go cheap charlie and buy something to mix with the 'Velvet. For a time it was whiskey and Coke, then I switched over to making 7 and 7 type mixers with Sprite or 7-Up. After awhile though I noticed that I'd get headaches from having all that sugar to process, and now I'm using a sour mix. So far, so good... as long as I don't overdo it.

Before I go too much further with this I'd like the younger ones that might be reading the thread to take note of something:

The drinking I've done in the past, and even to some extent now, was and is habitual. After burning enough holes in my wallet and building countless beer can pyramids on my coffee table, I decided to control the urge to go out and buy another bottle. This is one of those things that can spin out of control very rapidly, and if you're not prepared to own up to your problems it can make mincemeat of your life in a real hurry. So, when you reach an appropriate drinking age please do be careful with it. A drink can go down pretty quickly, but it takes some years to pull out of a nosedive; or if you've already hit rock bottom, to crawl out of the smoking crater that was once a good life.

I learned that the hard way, and that's why I only drink when the time is right for it. I had to rein myself in before I ended up losing everything I care about.

That was very therapeutic.

So, my fellow boozehounds; what's your poison?
