In this link http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=169382 someon found a possible solution for the sub not touching the ocean floor when going to the bottom. But for some reason its abandoned. Can someone else finish it?

I was just reading that thread Oscar, That would be great if it could be added.
Did TDW get it working to a degree? Looked like the boat would just go throught the ground. Would be great in the Mega - mod if it was possible. ![]() |

the big problem with that (to the best im aware) is the ocean floor is not really the way it looks.
as far as the game is concerned it is perfectly straight level and feature less so the devs make it transparent so it has depth to the way you view things at different heights yet the boat cant go past the transparent viewing window without the game thinking its colliding with something and you die. this is why your boat can go right through some objects, as far as the game is concerned it isnt really there so there is nothing to collide with, its like a holografic image. AFAIK it would break too much of other things in the game to try and do something and most likely access to the games dev codes would be needed it was not given up lightly and the guys working on it knew their stuff so rest assured there is very good reason why it still hasnt been done |
