Default Thing you once hated and you now love in SH3

I used to hate bad weather and convoys but now I love them both, specially if combined together. They work so nice together...I find it much easier to attack a ship and escape undetected in bad weather...

Given my druthers, I'll take clear visibility over low visibility. I've been surprised too many times in dank weather to be comfortable with it. I find it easier to compensate for a seen escort at long range than an unseen one at short range.

What I hated about SHIII at first was the processor speed required to run the sim. I had an old computer and it wasn't until recently I was able to purchase a new laptop with a fast processor. The years of compiling the tips, the history, the flags, was well worth the wait to finally play this awesome sim.
There are things about this sim that are like the fall hunting season here in the Northern woods.
I choose to sit and wait for my prey to appear, rather than slowly move and stalk like some hunters. I can spot movement much better when I keep still and quiet. The more I hunt, the better I know my prey, its habits, the routes it takes. Patience is acquired with experience. I learn something new with each hunt.

More satisfying too.

That's fine if you like shooting fish in a barrel. Not very exciting imo.

[QUOTE=desirableroasted;1562956]Depends on your definition of "bad weather," I guess, but the last thing I want is to be rattling around in a convoy in "poor visibility."

There again. No Risk, No Glory.

The antisapation of doing everything right is 90% of the hunt.
The kill tastes just a little bit sweeter.

To me SH3\GWX is like a chess game, a good brandy and a fine cigar.
To be enjoyed slowly and savored.

Oh, please. We have all snap-shot a BB at 400m in dense fog, and not even using the "I spy Lock exploit", at least if we have been playing a while. And we have sunk it.

And we have all wreaked havoc in convoys in bad weather.

But don't swan around pretending you do it regularly and successfully.

Jeez Sorry I hurt your itty-bitty feelings.

The biggest "A-ha moment" for me was when I realized magnetic pistols work a lot better than the manual says, and that the careful lining up of a 90 AOB impact shot was kindergarten.
