Has anyone tried researching and scouting historical convoy routes for hunting? I ran into a number of convoys east of Newfoundland, which matches the routes on the groovy little map in this Wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convoy The routes to the south of Iceland look like they'll make for excellent hunting grounds once the Soviets are in the war and convoys to them merge with imports from North America. eB |

I'm not sure if it was coincidence that I found those convoys near the historical routes or if the developers really did set up routes to mirror the historical ones. I'm going to play again in a little bit after I watch some more anime and see if the area around Iceland gives similar results.

I can not say with certainty that route, purely historical are consistent with each game offers, but there are many avenues to get nice catches,

I don’t thing that the RL convoys are precisely the same, date departure and heading. etc. But the general idea stands off course.
Check your SH3 folder in explorer and find a "documentation" folder. Inside you will find the "SH3_MAP" showing you the general routes sorted by year. |

Thank you for the heads up, Matador. I had seen that map a few times in-game, but never spared more than a few seconds as I had been looking for the map with the net and mine fields laid out.
Now that I can see the game's routes, the AM junction west of Ireland looks perfect for hitting the maximum number of convoys. eB |

I've had a good bit of luck lurking near Rockall Bank, the eastbound convoys appear to head around the north side of it before turning ESE to head to Liverpool and the Clyde. Also the northern route passing south of Greenland, but aircraft become a real pain after a while.

Try parking 250km west of Gibraltar for some nice hunting.
