RSRD 100 realism, cams, contacts OFF. USS Grayling-Gar class Game FROZE after all this...ughhh May 1, 1943 Palau-Wewake shipping lanes, about half way between. After sinking three ships on 30 April despite 9 of 16 torpedos prematurely exploding(calm seas) and one dud on impact, continued on patrol, found a new convoy next morning, while closing, the single escort, a subchaser somehow detected me(got lucky and spotted or had radar, but dont think has radar that early) he closed in, I charged in on surface with a zero AOB at him, using TBT to set up down the throat shot, at 4,000 yards I ordered a DIVE as the rounds began splashing too close, leveled off at periscope depth, closed in playing chick basically, the subchaser began pinging, at 700 yards I fired two Mark 14's and ordered 250 feet with full left rudder. As the sub passed 80 feet, BOOM! the first torpedo hit, a massive secondary explosion followed by the groaning of a ship breaking up, I leveled out at 100 feet and ahead flank to put some yards between myself and the subchaser I most likely destroyed. When cam back to scope depth, subchaser was gone, a burning debris field was left. I then went after the three merchants, two large and one which required some exstensive under water manuvering of the sub.Sank one Nagara Maru with stern tubes.Fired remaining bow tubes at a Hakusika Maru, some prematured but others hit, slowing her to half a knot and with a down angle.Fired last stern tubes which sank her. The remaining ship was a kasigasan maru which I planned to use the big stern deck gun on since out of fish, ordered a surfaced, as ship had surfaced and was getting moving, game froze, repeating the engine sounds but the picture froze, forcing a reboot of computer. This has happened once before, long time ago.Aggravating ![]() |
