So, what's the difference with yours and SteelViking's sky banding mod?

Just a thought here ... is anyone using an old CRT monitor and getting the sky banding?

Or is anyone using a true 8bit LCD panel and getting the banding?

I'm a graphic designer by trade and I use both CRT and true 8bit panels and I don't get a lot of banding (if any at all).

Is the problem with TN panel monitors which only show 6bit color and then dither the remainder? This is a huge problem for designers and well known about -- and I'm wondering if we're not seeing the same thing here?

Thoughts?

I do not find the mod as well. Banding problem is structual as the shader is just not fine enough to smooth subtile colorchanges as they occur for example during the twilight.

In this screensshot it would be hard to see the sky banding anyway... there are too many clouds, it is to much light... The banding is also taking place under water and mostly in twilights or in the dark...

Could anyone point me to the possible fixes? Also the one of SteelViking, maybe?
