Default Red Night Light Puzzle

Hi Skippers

After the sonar puzzle i encountered in SH4, here comes another one.

As we all know, in SHCE and SH2 we could easily switch the red light on and off whenever it's daytime or nighttime but SH3 and SH4 don't give us that convenience (instead they switch the red light on and off only at dusk and dawn automatically).

I do think the red light gives us skippers many benefits when we do some periscope attack during not only nighttime but daytime as well. As I remember in SHCE, in an overcast afternoon somewhere near East China Sea i encountered a large convoy and then i employed a daytime submerged attack, i turned on the red light and the scope contrast was significantly improved thus i could easily pick out a fully loaded troop transport or a juicy Nippon Maru among the convoy --- just like the skipper Byron Henry did in the TV Series "War and Remembrance".--- I don't know if it's historical accurate, if there is something wrong please let me know.

In some cases you do need to turn off the red light at night. In SH2, in the middle of the chilly Atlantic i surface-attacked an east bound convoy at a moonless night and suddenly my 1st WO spotted a high speed Flower corvette was charging at us. Alarrrrrrm!!! Down we went and soon we hit the depth of 250 meter, i yelled "right full rudder", then "rig for silent running" and "secure from red!" yeah, SECURE FROM RED, just like the German kapitan at the start of the movie U-571 did. Cuz i think when you run silent run deep to evade the escorts you have reason to turn off the red light to make the control room brighter (at least there is no need to go to PD in the next couple of hours) --- I don't know if it's historical accurate, if there is something wrong please let me know.

I play subsim mostly for the atmosphere which makes you feel you are the guy in a WWII submarine and take the conn. In this point i pursue the realism and historical accuracy. And as far as i know, the venerable AotD and SHCE do the job well. But in my humble opinion, in SH3 and SH4 something valuable are missing out.
