Default Great job on the radars Tater

August 1944 in Makassar straight, ran into a convoy with one large Nippon Maru Tanker and two escorts.I was able to get in close on the surface, was at less than 6000 yards and the Momi's radar didnt get me, was pretty awseome being able to do this like they did in RL even when enemy had radar, thanks Tater.

I sunk the Tanker

Glad I could be of assistance.

I'm playing with my new toy right now... an i7 iMac. HUGE screen. Gorgeous. Dead silent. Not quiet, silent. I've gotta get windows installed on this puppy to see how it runs SH4. If it does... I'm seriously considering dumping my gaming rig for another one (unless I can get Jan Kyster to help me pick stuff to make a completely noiseless gaming PC with better specs...).

Once I get bootcamp sorted out I'll likely make a combined mod for the various RSRDC_for_TMO fixes—including some group cfg issues I found.

That and throwing JMM out the door.

Tater- I'm running SHIV on my i6. You'll be fine running it on XP via Boot Camp. Note, you'll have to run the Boot Camp update before getting XP to SP3.

BootCamp allows a Mac to be dual boot (given the CPU is the same as an intel windows box). Meaning hold a key down on startup, and the mac will use a windows partition, and boot in XP/vista/etc.

This thing is amazing. It makes no noise at all. None. I have to listen hard to hear the HDD going during a large copy off the other machine. At idle my gaming rig is far noisier. The only time that PC is as quiet as this thing is asleep or off (then it is identically quiet).

I know I sound obsessed with sound, but when you have a computer in one room that makes zero noise, then you go to another machine that makes, well, quite a bit, even purposely designed to be as quiet as possible, the difference is noticeable.

I deserved that.

Heheh. Luckily this is a place where substance meets style. My wife hates the noisy PC. She'll be trying to read some horrible medical journal behind me on the sofa, and I hear nothing cause I have headphones on (listening for splashes of DCs ). She's keen on having it look "clean" instead of my PC looking like a garage project moved into the living room

She won't give me trouble about a computer anyway given her rivalry with Imelda Marcos for the number of shoes they own

I'll certainly look into a silent PC if I can get/build a better one for less money than a huge iMac. I did buy this thing refurbished, so I saved quite a lot of money on it. Has a full warranty (I see so much as a bad pixel and they have to give me a new one), and was actually less than the i5 version new.

Ok, a lot of people mention this radar mod off-hand. And apparently it's the best thing since beer milkshakes. What's it actually do?

Oh, the radar mod for RSRDC running over TMO?

The TMO campaign sets the IJN vessels to not have the Type 13 radar since that type only detects planes, and is "useless" as far as the player is concerned. It's also broken in SH4 because it ALSO detects surface units.

RSRDC has the proper radars on IJN units, even if just air-search sets (that SHOULD have no effect on the player). The trouble is since TMO doesn't fix the type 13 from stock, it detects subs.

This mod fixes the type 13 for TMO so it will not detect subs for any campaign mods like RSRDC that use the type 13.

Hehe, my set up is in my back sunroon, turned into an office. Headphones get on my nerves and I have my rig hooked to 7.1 bose speakers, small but dang powerful with quality. Several times a night...."Please cut that thing down." Once she was gone shopping and I had the thing cut way up during the surface battle of GC. The back window was open. Wife walked in and said the neighbor across the street said "your son sure is playing one loud video game" in which she replied,

"no, that's my husband."

I need some good headphones, I do have to adjust volume for anything loud, but with contacts off I like cranking it up when submerge in the sub, awesome hearing all the creaks. I have added many sounds, got one guy puking rather loudly thats got to go.

Thanks tater. All I run is TMO, so it shouldn't be an issue for me.
