The VIIC/41 has a thicker pressure hull so its test and crush depth are deeper. Although the added weight of the VIIC\41's pressure hull should slow it down its actually lighter to the VIIC due to the use of new lighter engines.
So its essentially the same Uboat but can go deeper before you go boom. |

Well its the best type VII you can get. It can go 50+ meter's deeper than the VIIC. So if your getting pumelled by depth charges allot I would say Go for it!

I thought the Type VIIC/42 was the best you can get of the VII series in GWX. I'm still not at the point of getting one, so I'm just double-checking.

The '41 was the best offered in GWX.
There may be a mod for the '42 but I don't know. |

So GWX removed the Type VIIC/42 that is mentioned in the SH3 Official manual? Interesting.

If it existed in stock Sh3, it was just an equipment variation of the existing type 7c data files. Which means any type 7c/42 would have shared the exact same performance characteristics of all other type 7c's, and ingame would not have the much touted diving depth due to it's sharing of resources with other boat types in the game files. |

GWX tends to bend history slightly on various points in the interest of enjoyment. (Which I'm fine with.) It's a bit disappointing that stock SH3 didn't have it at least for use in a fantasy mission. It would have been fun as a diversion. Thank you for answering my question Privateer. |

The previous campaign i played with the type IX, i died at the end of '43 off the americans coast. I started this one on '40 in St Nazaire and i wanna see if i can reach the electro boat. but i don't know if i will. The last patrol has proven too be difficoult with only one lonely ship sank, pleanty of planes in the few days of shiny sun and a very bad weather for most of the time.
