started a new career in the pacific fleet
i managed to find a IJN task force north of the Philippians i fired a torp(Mark 14) in the action camera, i saw the torpedo coming close to a sub I though there was a Japanese sub with the fleet so i checked the maps, turns out that the sub was actually my sub. and the torpedo turned 180 degrees and almost sank me ![]() what is wrong? i thought my torps could turn a maximum of 170 degrees?(so it can't be TDC problem) |

Yea, those surprise you when you get tordedo impact and it's your sub. I had two my last patrol. Usually they don't hit you unless your moving forward slow, which it the way most move. They will also hit you at scope depth. Seldom will they sink you if they hit, but usually enough damage you're heading back to base, so either stop when you shoot or shoot and dive deeper. If you're moving forward, they usually won't hit you until about the 3 circle around, so you do have time to check your attack map with contacts off or use the cam.
Good news if if a DD is chasing you they often will sink it. If I get a circle runner and DD's are chasing me, I'll just stay under the circle, they make a run, usually get hit. |
