What escort/plane etc do you dread dealing with the most?
I dread the Type A/B escorts and the Akizuki Destroyer(Later War) Dread Bettys the most as far as planes go, they are fast. |

The expert Type A/Bs that lie in wait in the Formosa Strait late in the war provide some tension. If my dog farts in the other room they come running.

Not fear, just you lnow certain types are top notch and have plenty of charges.I mean an aux subchaser with its one charge rack is and seemingly crappy sonar is nothing to worry about compared to a type AB with its many y guns and racks. |

I guess, for me, it would be the Akizukis. They always seem to be manned by experienced crewmen and their sound detection seems to be higher grade than the others. The only thing about those pesky aux subchasers is, those little buggers are exceptionally hard to sink, with DG or torps.

Probably the Matsu, late war with an elite crew, 4 K guns, 2 Y guns and double roll offs. Hope you're in deep water.
Totally agree, any of the Type A-C boats that have the 6 Y guns, seems every convoy late war in Formosa has 4-6 of these as escorts. Having just two of these pounce on you and the charges sound like machine guns going off. They carry 120 charges, where they put em on that small boat.... |

I have TMO's Akikazi DD setup to show up as a regular escort in my install and that thing is a nightmare! It seems to detect me alot further away than the other DDs and its loaded with so many DCs that when it drops a pattern you had better be well out of the area. The Type A/B is a close second, but the Akikazi owns the seas.

You talking about Bungo Pete....I know it has an elite crew, lot's of charges, ect...not sure if it throws as many as Type AB. I never see it since playing RSRD, I assume it's gone.
Come to think of it, another ship I've never seen in RSRD is the Conte Verde..think that's how it's spelled, large pass. ship. |

I took parts of TMO,RFB,OM and alot of smaller mods to build my install so i'm not sure what impact this would have on a TMO install. It would probably break the Bungo Pete Mission.
But its simple to change it back. Just open the Data\Sea\NDE_Akikaze folder and open the NDE_Akikaze.cfg and change the unit type from 17 to 4. Then Open the Data\Roster\Japan\Sea folder and open the DEAkikaze.cfg there and change its unit type to 4 also. This changes it from a DE to a DD and it will appear like the other DDs. If it breaks the bungo pete mission just change both files back to 17.

I think you've mentioned that you run TMO and RSRD, and while I can't speak for RSRD, I can confirm the Conte Verde appears in TMO. I ran into one a while back. Surprisingly well armed bastard. I underestimated it's guns. As for it's disappearance in RSRD, I can only guess it's because the Conte Verde had only one ship used as a troop ship (iirc), and that was near Italy. No where near the pacific. It may have be taken out by the auther of RSRD for that reason. Really, I've noticed quite a few ships that seem out of place in the pacific. My guess it they're from earlier in development. Perhaps they were considering an atlantic campaign and finished a few models that they felt it'd be a shame to waste? Just a guess, btw. P.S. There's a damn fly that's been buzzing around my head and PC screen while I've been typing this. It needs to die. In a fire. |
