Newb with a few questions
I really liked Silent Hunter III and some of the mods were awesome!
So I was really looking forward to Silent Hunter 5....Only I've been bitterely dissapointed on how the game runs on my system... It seems very laggy, takes forever it seems to click on anything, or move my mouse around. I'm not very computer hardware saavy, so I was hoping maybe some of you all could give me a few pointers... I've read through many posts going back to the game's initial release, and found some stuff that may be helpful... I tried the antilag download...hasn't helped...I set all in game graphics settings to lowest possible...tried adjusting to a different resolution...no help there....opened up the computer case, and use an external fan to help cool my graphics card...no help there....so I'm kinda frustrated. the hardware detector tool of SH5 says I meet all requirements....but perhaps not well enough? my graphics card is an nVidea Geforce G100 with 512mb of ram my CPU is Intel core duo something or other.... any thoughts on tweaks, or mods etc? I appreciate the help! |

I would have to agree with Robbo about your card. You could get yourself a GT200 series for pretty cheap and be fine to play. SH5 is very smooth on my GT240.

![]() <GAME-BOOSTER> Designed to help optimize your PC for smoother, more responsive game play in the latest PC games with the touch of a button, Game Booster helps achieve the performance edge previously only available to highly technical enthusiasts.[Freeware] ![]() It works by defragmenting game directories, temporarily shutting down background processes, cleaning RAM, and intensifying processor performance. That means you can keep all the features of operating systems ready for when you need them, but turn them off when you are ready to get down to serious business – gaming. Works compatible with PunkBuster, Cheating-Death, VAC, and any other anti-cheat software, Game Booster makes it simpler to enjoy the latest games and take your experience to a new level. All systems go! http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html Kind regards Venatore |

If you use gamebuster be SURE to reset things to normal mode before you shut down the computer. If you don't, you may have trouble starting again.
It happened to me, so the warning.

Between Gamebooster, antilag, and a few other mods, I can at least play the game now.
In port and in the Sub I get really low frame rates, but otherwise seems ok. Now it's time to save up some coin for a GPU upgrade. Thank you for the suggestions! |
