New Earth-like planet discovered

Gliese 581g is in the 'Goldilocks zone' of its solar system, where liquid water could exist, and is a strong contender to be a habitable world. Astronomers have discovered a potentially habitable planet of similar size to Earth in orbit around a nearby star.

A team of planet hunters spotted the alien world circling a red dwarf star called Gliese 581, 20 light years away.

it is the greatest disappointment of my life that i don't have the ability to physically do so.

Yes it would be an amazing feeling to be able to experience more of the huge and unimaginable diversity in space, but physically it may be we all share

There's hundreds of possible Earth like planets that have been found already.

Learn remote viewing? I've heard it's possible to explore space with remote viewing. If you can't be there physically maybe spiritually or mentally.
Better than being in someone's heart or consciousness spying for a malevolent government or tyrant.

Yea I'd want to go to distant stars too. I'd want to see and feel so small and in awe . . . .and perhaps make a first contact on an alien planet and say We come in peace! LOL

Same here. Something I've always wished for but can't have.

David Letterman's comment last night about this new planet:

"Don't tell BP!"

At one time Venus was thought to have huge jungles and oceans of petroleum.

Yeah, we've had some pretty strange ideas about the moons and planets.

Including but not limited to what to name them...

As long as I can come along as a representative of the company financing the expedition...
