Default Need suggestions

Hi all...

Some of you might have seen me over in the SH4 forums, but I'm new here and to SH III. I've only played SHIV. Having always heard great things about III I thought I would give it a try. I'm half gamer half simmer really, and this SH seems a bit harder than IV. I suppose I'm just used to the controls and gameplay of IV, that it is confusing me some. Such as setting up a new career...what year? what flotilla?...things like that and the proper compartment placing of crew.

Anyways, I'm here looking for suggestions on what mods to use. Considering that I am a beginner to SHIII and play the game with little realism, set low. I use auto targeting, etc.

I installed the game, then activated GWX 3.0.

I didn't much like the "yayyyy" voice when scoring a torpedo hit. So I am in need of an english speaking sound mod.

What mods might compliment GWX 3.0 ?

P.S. This III seems like the best in the series so far . Graphics are very nice, game runs smooth, similar controls to SHIV. I didn't like SH5, I have uninstalled that one . But there were aspects of it that were cool. SHIII seams to be a good balance of them all.

Hey, thanx all for any suggestions...

Ahoy matey. Check this out: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=170090
Cheers

PS. In my opinion the absolute SH3 speech/sound mod (german voices) is http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...=1311&act=down

If your playing GWX3.0 I'd recommend you change your speech setting in the options screen to German and the text to English.

Ditto that, this adds greatly to the immersion, an all english crew on a U-Boat........... outrageous

Best regards.

Thanx all, for the suggestions. I did set the text to English and the other sounds to German now...does sound natural.

I was wondering about these things:

Game is to dark at night/under water, is there a way to brighten things up?

A chrono clock that pops up when I use time compression (like that is SHIV), I haven't seen one nor been able to find a key command.

Is there a key command to set the crew to "Battle Stations" or is that just a feature in IV?

When I switch to the exterior free cam, I have to turn the camera until I find my boat. Can I get the camera to start behind the boat, facing the direction of my boat? Also, I've noticed that when I first go to exterior view (F12) if left alone the camera slowly goes down, as if it's a periscope, going down...til i move it.

My current jsgme setup:

GWX3.0
GWX16km Atmosphere
GWXEnglish Nav Map and Grid Refs
GWXEnhanced Damage Effects
GWXIntegrated Orders
GWXVIIC41 Player Sub
DBSM
SB_cameras_mod_SH3
FreeCamWaterOnLensEffectMod
B25_SeaFloorV.1.0_Full
GWX - Black Sea Campaign Files Only

Thanx again for your replies....

P.S...Has anybody tried using BlackSea mod by poul? I picked it up here: ftp://maikhaas.dyndns.org/Volume_1/S...COMMUNITYMODS/

Too dark for what? At night water is black, and external view is unrealistic anyway.

Oh, you just wanted an answer. Adjust the gamma settings in your video card tray.

All SH3 has is the little one at the bottom of the screen. Other than that there is the stopwatch for timing torpedoes. The good news is that rather than the default being 'Base Time' as in SH4, in SH3 it is GMT, or 'Zulu' time - the time at 0 degrees longitude, in London. If you place the cursor over the time it will show you local time, or time where you are at in the world. This was something they removed from SH4 for no apparent reason.

SH4 only.

In SH3 the F12 cam starts directly above the conning tower, rather than behind the boat. To keep it from going down just move it a tiny bit. You will also notice that if you use it to watch the boat go by from very close (something I love doing) as the boat passes it will 'grab' the camera and tow it along, until, as above, you move it a little.

Hey Sailor Steve ...

Well...I could definitely use a mod that brightens things up because I cant see a dang thing , at night. I have no clue where my video card tray settings are, so I suppose I should stay out of that area.

Yeah so, I'm using your sound mod currently, it's very cool...thank you for that. Bummer about the exterior cam and battle stations deal. Oh well. Still lovin' this SHIII, I never knew it was this good.

I was wondering, is there a good mod for the sea floor? I'm trying one but it doesn't seem to do anything, as the floor is still flat. Is there a way to get rocks and weeds and such in there?

Thanx for your reply

There is a Sea floor mod out there some where for SH3.
I remember seeing it but never paid much attention to it.
I'm always crashing into the Sea Bed and didn't want killing
innocent Seaweed and stuff on my conscience.

What kind of card do you have? If it's ATI (Radeon), just right-click on the desktop and at the very top of the menu should be "Catalyst (TM) Control Center". In that menu is a selection marked "Color". In that is "Gamma" with a slider that lets you change the brightness in the game.

If you have an Nvidia card someone else will have to help.

It's basically the same deal for nvidia. Right click desktop, choose Nvidia Contorl Panel, then Adjust desktop colour settings and voila there is a gamma slider. Hope this helps.

Best regards.
