hey, Iv recently started using the TDC properly rather than that auto-line-up-the numbers-win a goldfish-if your lucky-crud system.
I seem to be having a few teething problems, i get all my data, range speed, AOB etc.. yet everytime i let loose won of my eels of mass destruction all they seem to do is miss by going ahead of the target, not by miles just a Mars bar away from hitting the bloody thing.. i even tried to compensate by aiming for the rear of the target and again.. it misses at the front... ![]() So is there something im doing wrong? can any1 think of a suggestion? Can any1 educate me? ![]() Also is there any1 to get the range to show the actual distance like 1229m rather than it going up in 50m's? peace |

As to your misses - do you set your TDC back to auto after inputting your data into it? It's a common mistake for newbies not to do so. There are a few other possible causes of your misses: - wrong Angle on The Bow measurement, - wrong speed measurement. So what methods do you use to estimate target's spend and course/Angle on The Bow? Where could it go wrong? The more you depend on tools when plotting, the more likely you will make mistakes if the tools are flawed. It could happen for example that 2 mods you install collide and you have wrong raticules for your RAOBF, or periscope zoom level is set inappropriately. Check that too. You can show us your list of mods and describe your method of inputing data to TDC.

well for mods all im using at the moment is BRF 1.2, Reaper7 Stadimeter mod v1.2, and sobers realistic hydrophone operator,
As for gaining data on my target im pretty newbie so i kept it simple and am just following this manual by bilge rat. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=163736 And like most things i do it seems to all be going wrong lol. And its a bit disheartening when iv had to get the data 3 times cus i keep missing, then i end up getting frustrated and deck gunning it to death, which sorta defeats the purpose of me playing SH5 lol And flipping the TDC back to auto.. is that after iv done the data before i fire... or after iv fired and am going against a different target? im all confused now lol |

I don't know if this might be a contributing factor into your hair misses, but I know if you upgrade your torpedoman's active ability (Pre-heat torpedo) it affects the speed along with the damage and the TDC doesn't take into account that boosted speed. Athlonic made a mod that takes the added speed out of the equation but keeps the added damage.
You can find the mod here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1849

Take Karasunx' advise seriously - he could have just pinned down the source of your problem.
If it doesn't help, I don't know what to suggest you. Although the how-to you are using seems to be ok, I dislike the method of plotting it suggests (especially the "hit pause" part). I've been using another method of estimating target course and speed with much success, maybe it would be a solution for you as well. Check this link (written for SH3, but perfectly applies to SH5 as well): http://www.paulwasserman.net/SHIII/
