Default SH5 patched to 1.2 runs like crap. WTH?

After I saw TDW's new interface and SteelViking's mods (including rework of my graphic mod) I was willing to give SH5 another shot.

I uninstalled all the mods and updated to 1.2. After launching the game I noticed that it runs extremely choppy (to the point of being unplayable). WTH?

I could run vanilla in 1920x1080 with maxed out details just fine and when I turned shadows off it was (almost) perfectly smooth. That being said, now, even in 1680x1050 the game looks like watching slides.

Isn't a patch supposed to actually IMPROVE a game?

Ubi, you definitely screwed pooch on this one! This was the last straw and I am officially DONE with SH5.

What a POS software.

Conus I will pass on to you the help I got from SteelViking. The shadow mod can cause a lot of problems.I got rid of the shadow mod,and SH V now runs fine.SteelViking has a less demanding shadow mod that helps, but I elected not to run a shadow mod period.I also run shadows in the graphic setup at 50%.I hope this helps you.

he probably also needs to install that DirectX patch that prevents the game from drawing so many frames ahead.

Yes, the d3d9 antilag fix works very well. I have tried it myself, and what little bit of periodic stuttering I had is completely gone. And, I have heard many others report positively about it.

You should really give SH5 one more shot Conus00.

+1

The 'mouse lag' that was so often mentioned was completely gone after trying this awhile back. Works very well for me.

I downloaded the anti-lag ddl and have to say that it improved the game's "choppines" a bit and I started getting my hopes up...
Until I tried to save.
CTD on save.

I've had it, screw SH5. Maybe I will dust off the DVD year or two from now when/if there is GWX5 (or it's equivalent) out but until then the SH5 can kiss my left nut!

I am sorry to hear(read) that. It would have been good to have you back on the SH5 modding scene.

I had all kinds of mouse-view stuttering on the bridge (interior was fine) until I found this little gem.

The only time the game has crashed on me is from radio event errors, which are my own doing
