Default Could the Tea Party protest movement be on its way to a fed-up Britain?

Quote:
Britain could import the ‘insurgency’ tactics of the ‘Tea Party’ movement where government attempts to impose higher taxes have led to mass protests and threatened to derail conventional politics.
The UK-based Taxpayers Alliance held talks with the FreedomWorks movement at a conference for right wing campaign groups in London.

A new wave of ‘Tea Party’ protests, named after the uprising against the British state’s imposition of tax on tea imports to America in 1773

Yeah, but that was before mass mass-media and the death of the intelligence of the general public.
It would be good to have protests on that scale again (although I do pity the poor coppers stuck in the middle of it) but even then...would the government listen? Would it heck as like!
Nope, we're stuck with it unfortunately.

Like any elected officials if enough protest is raised and they risk losing power then they listen.

I dunno Tarjak, I'd like to believe that's true...but things just aren't as united in the United Kingdom as they used to be. Maybe I'll be surprised, who knows, but even the Mayday parades are quiet affairs these days, probably because of the extremely heavy police presence.

Oh, when we get going there's not much to stop us....

It's just getting us going. I think a lot of people are angry...but not angry enough to risk being labeled a terrorist or put on a criminal records list.

Aye maybe that is the difference between 2010 and 1990. In 1990 anarchy was still alive and well in the UK. In 2010 it gets picked up by MI6 and disappears or labelled terrorism.
