Default nav map contact icon colors in GWX.

Hi all,

Just started a carreer in GWX 3.

Upon leaving Wihelmshafen, all the ships spotted in port are showing up as black icons on the nav map. This includes friendlies.

Under stock SHIII 1.4b they were:
Red: enemy
Blue: friendly
Green: neutral
Gray: unknown

Have the colors changed under GWX?
I cannot find any reference to this in the GWX manual.

Thanks,

Chris

The grey/black ones ime are ones that were sunk by someone else (luftwaffe) or managed to blow themselves up - can happen when a DD drops its charges in shallow water and doesn't accelerate. The explosion from its own depth charge ends up blowing off its stern and sinking itself. Friendly fire (allied) sinking also show up as grey, like when there's a merchant or something between you and the warship and it hits its own ship enough to sink it will show up as grey (though you won't get any credit from them, unless you manage to fire the final shot at them which puts em under).

Yes, because in R/L kaleun's had to identify their targets nationality by the flag they flew. All ships in GWX will show up as gray/black icons.

A Ha...
Learn somthing new every day!

I did see the Tirpitz in port.Amazing!
Just for fun I "locked her up" in the UZO,and had the weapons officer identify her, whitch he did correctly.

I guess I have to take a close look at the flags before I cut loose with a torp, and hold my fire until at least September third 1939.

Even then, mistakes can be made. I should know, done it myself

I once tracked a small convoy for several days before I closed in and saw it was... Venezuelan Thankfully I took to time to check the flags before cutting loose

I once lined up a fat liner for a salvo and approached closely. Just as I was about to fire, I suddenly asked myself, "Why does that ship have a green line running from stem to stern? What are those little red crosses for?" Then it hit me: Hospital ship!!!! Abort attack!

In another early patrol I sank about 14 ships off the Norwegian coast. I returned to Willy with a fat score, only to receive a massive renown hit. Only then did it hit me that Norway was still neutral.
