Default Above Water Transparencies

I've searched the mods section for it, but to no avail. Is there a water mod that will allow you to see your submarine from above the surface like in SH4? Depth, lighting and weather permitting of course. The SH5 Water mod that I'm using is plenty fine, but if the SH3 engine supports it, above water transparencies would be excellent.

No.

That is one of the major advancements of SH4. In SH3 it's not possible. Or at least has proven so thus far.

You sir need a girlfriend.

@ Hans : If the SH3 engine ever gets to support water transparency in the future, I suppose we'll see many people (who said most ? ) going back from SH5 to SH3 in a heartbeat.

But that's not going to happen, most probably.

SH4 is just SH3 with better crew management, better graphics and transparent water. If it's the transparent water you want, use SH4 and Op Monsun for U-boats. What's bad about SH4 is that it has been neglected by all the modders who keep making neat stuff only for SH3, including SH3 Commander. If not for those I would never look back.

While I adore SH3, I see much to like in a modded SH4, but it is not an option due to the constant crash to desktop errors that SH4 gives me. As most of us seem to feel, gameplay still beats out graphics. Of course, if you can have both...

Thanks for the quick replies all.

Funny..I never missed the transparency. But now as I begin to think about it......yes, would be nice. On the other hand: Is it necessary for the atlantic theatre? Years ago, I took a ferry to Sylt (an german northsea island) and I was not able to see more than 1 metre deep into the water. I think this is totally different in the meditarranean sea or the pacific.....

Seriously, this question was threaded a long time go : SH3's water transparancy un-capability is hardcoded. So...
