Default SH4 invades my real life

So, I get a call from one of my clients telling me that the offsite storage service for their backup tapes is going to be there in an hour to pick up last night's tape, but they can't get it to eject from the drive. I go over there and find the drive is toast, but the tape may still be OK. I decide to take the drive apart and see if I can get the tape out.

Knowing that the courier will be there in about 30 minutes to pick up the tape, I hurriedly start removing screws from the drive to get the cover off. I then had to laugh at myself when I realized that, under my breath, I was humming one of the "urgent" music tracks from SH4. Like the ones that play when you're attacking or under attack.

Oh god I hate when that happens because me for some reason when this happens the same thing also just repeats itself over and over.

Usually this only happens to me if I have been spending a large amount of time on something or am under a stressful situation. My first night of "sleep" in basic I kept doing in my dream what our TI called "the bag drill" where he made us drop our bags and pick them up over and over again I'm sure he did to cause a repeating dream pattern some of us had been up for 24 hours by that point.

A more "normal" invasion of SH4 for me is telling co-workers about my patrols. Many are baffled why anyone would play such a complex game. My gaming stories are more interesting than the typical MMORPG or shooter story at least.

I showed my best friend this game and I got the "it's way too complex" reaction, too. That surprised me since he develops training software for military aircraft simulators. Of course, we had a few rums under our belts when I showed him... maybe I'll show him again, but this time BEFORE the sun's over the yardarm.

Quick anecdote:

If one uses TMO and clicks on the Captain's hatch door they will be transported to the radio shack/captain's cabin area.

Under the Captain's bed are two cases of that old classic brew, Pabst Blue Ribbon.

I showed this to my two 18 year old sons who thought this was hilarious as PBR is the drink of choice among the hipster crowd who these kids loath. It's a strange world.

Everything old is new again. Can't remember who said that but seems appropriate with the PBR. When are they bringing back Schlitz?

HA! I kind of lost my wife's attention the day before yesterday when I was crouched down in the bathroom fixing our toilet telling her it was broken and leaking from all the depth charges. haha

I have a friend who designs tabletop miniatures games, and is a trained aerodynamicist. We have played his WW1/WW2/modern airplane game for about 35 years now.

He once told us that one morning over breakfast his wife told him he had been talking in his sleep. He asked her if he had said anything that could get him in trouble, and she said "No. But I have a question. What does 'break right' mean?"

Yesterday I had to make a quick trip to S. Padre Island...about a 30 mi. trip. There is a ship channel that runs parallel to the border with Mexico and goes to the Port of Brownsville. As I was crossing the bridge that joins the island to the mainland, I spotted a large freighter about to enter the channel. First thing that came to my mind was "where can I put some torpedos in that baby to bring her down fast..."....

Oh God! They're invading our subconscious!

Let's play the game's DVD backwards and see what happens!

Deephunter, YES! hahaha!! I was at (I think it was) Folly Beach with the wifey a while back watching freighters pass and when I said, "look at all those juicy targets..." my wife responded, "I knew EXACTLY what you were thinking!"

Armistead, my stepson had zombie dreams from Left 4 Dead too.

Yep. Just the other day I stubbed my toe on the step and what was the first thing that came out of my mouth? 'We have men down on the deck, sir!'
