Actually the "code wheel" was used alot - I remember it in alot of the SSI D&D games (Pool of Radiance series). Lightspeed/Hyperspeed and many others used the Page/Paragraph/#word scheme. Can't use that anymore because publishers want to save money making everything PDF.

LucasArts' Their Finest Hour also used the code wheel. Silent Service had you ID the destroyer on page XX.

I remember Lenslok being used for Tomahawk on the Spectrum..

That was great, an Apache simulator for the ZX Spectrum....

Now I feel really old.
