Harbor model clipping
Anyone know why various buildings and such in harbors seem to clip and fade from view? This seems to particuarlly apply to any harbor model that existed in SH3.
I do not know, but I have two theories. a.)More objects being rendered then the game has memory reserved for this purpose. or b.) Objects are being rendered differently and the harbor dats for existing ports in SH3 were not updated to reflect this new rendering style. Anyone know? |

Yeah, this is a known problem and very annoying. I usually stay out of harbors so it doesn't affect me that much. I once created a teapot about 1 km high and placed it in Pearl Harbor. No visibility issues. If it's all about the number of objects, maybe one can merge all the objects in a 3d graphics program.

I figured it out. In the harbor_kit.dat file, there is a controller that is attached to items that came from SH3.
The controller is "MinRenderDim". Remove the controller and the object stops clipping in game. I would imagine this may have carried over into SH5 as well, as i recall seeing a post about harbor items clipping there. |
