GWX provides you with your very own depth charges. Just get her out in a rough patch of sea and let it bounce you around for awhile, and there's no need to go looking for any of those pesky destroyers.

Honestly I don't know, I haven't upgraded to a VIIC yet to even see what's different about it but now I'm curious too.

It'd be hilarious if they were depth charges, that floated instead of sinking. When you know that destroyer is lining up, just press the button and they head towards the surface...

Or better yet, get right under a ship to sink it. Just don't forget to move out of the way...

Do you mean the 2 bollards on each side?

They are for ropeing the U-boat to the dock.
The were able to be raised when in port,
and lowered while at sea.

Another 'potential' State Machine Controller mod.

The Type VIIC was equipped with four inflatable life rafts each capable of holding (on the inside) five people. More could be on the outside. These life rafts were contained in four watertight compartments with hatches.

If you have a copy of

Westwood, D., (1984) The Type VII U-Boat published by the Naval Institute

It has some nice drawings. The Type VIIb had a dingy stored in approximately the same location.

I have not read of any instances where the crew of a Type VIIc used their life rafts though.

Don't laugh too hard, those types of weapons were considered at one time.
