Default Independence Day Weedend Sales

I desperately want SH5. One of the things holding me back is my gaming rig. Checking out the requirements to run SH5 my current rig is not up to snuff. So last night I did some internet searching to see what I could get if I had money to go along with Independence Day Weedend Sales.

Using the custom builds online I was able to come up with this fine gaming rig for under $900. Too bad I don't have $$ but for those that do check it out.

I did this at http://www.ibuypower.com and also at CyberpowerPC

Here's what I came up with for $839 Free Shipping

Processor
[== Quad Core ==] AMD Phenom™ II X4 955 Black Edition Quad-Core

CPUProcessor
CoolingCertified CPU Fan and Heatsink

Memory
4 GB [2 GB X2] DDR3-1333 Memory Module-Corsair or Major Brand

Video Card
ATI Radeon HD 5770 - 1GB-Single Card

Motherboard
Gigabyte GA-770T-USB3 -- AMD 770Motherboard Add-onNonePower

Supply
600 Watt -- Power Supply-SLI Ready

Primary Hard Drive
30 GB Kingston SSDNow V Series MLC SSD-Single Drive **FREE after $60 Mail-in Rebate**

Data Hard Drive
500 GB HARD DRIVE -- 16M Cache, 7200 RPM, 3.0Gb/s-Single Drive

Optical Drive
24X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive-Black

See any weakness with this setup?

Hey Harmsway, I know how you feel. I actually put together a new computer just so I could play SH5 in all its glory. Silent Hunter was sitting on my desk for 2 1/2 months while I waited to put it together.
You might want to try www.newegg.com or www.tigerdirect.com and see about picking up the pieces yourself and have a local PC dealer put it together, or if you know anybody that's done it. The tricky part is making sure everything is compatible (I took a crash course on putting it together and what goes with what). If you are feeling adventurous to try and do it yourself www.tomshardware.com is a great resource for questions about hardware and puting things together.
The system I put together I got from Newegg for about 1300$ but that was with a new monitor, keyboard, speakers, and a mouse. Newegg's shipping is cheap ($30ish) and I got everything within 3 days.
My system:
-AMD Phenom II 965 X4 (Quad Core) 3.4Ghz
-6 Gb RAM (2gb + 4 gb) Gskill DDR3 1333
-Samsung 1 TB hardrive
-ATI Radeon 5770 1gb GPU
-MSI 770-G45 AM3 Motherboard
-Corsair 750W power supply
-3 Cooling fans
-24x Samsung Dual Format/Double layer DVDR/RW
-21" LCD HD Screen (Probable went overboard with this one)
-NZXT Computer case
-Windows 7

So how is SH5 performing on your rig? Any trouble?

Sorry, didn't mean for the slow reply, just got lost in other posts. No problems with my rig, I can run everything maxed out and never drop below 60 fps. Good luck with the new computer whichever way you decide to go

Honestly I went with the 5770 over the 5850 just for monetary reasons. I know the 5850 has twice the stream processors, but the 5770 meets and exceeds my needs as far as gaming and was half the price. I mean it plays SH5 with everything maxed out as well as my FPS games.

wow pal, you have problems... Sounds like you really want to drive the energy industry... Last time I bought new hardware just for a game was... I don't recall. That rig should do pretty fine though.

Well the last computer I bought was a Dell from back in 1999 so it was time to upgrade. I'm using the new computer for a bunch of different games besides SH5, and I wanted to build a base system that I could upgrade in the future too.
