Default AI Destroyers ever run out of fireworks?

This has most likley been asked 100 times but do the AI escorts ever run out of depth charges?

Got a stubborn little b***ard above me that just won't quit harassing me even though he is miles off i am wondering how long he will be there.. Thats if his mates dont turn up.

Yes, they do run out of DC's but that takes a while (I never counted them), but sometimes they won't just go away but rather stick around to wait until you have to surface.
They also do fake attack runs without without dropping DC's at you.

I read some post about D/C and approx.250 depth charges so DD are loaded, but my experience i I never have.or be lucky to see DD without D/C

I usually always count the charges as they go off and I have yet to come up with an accurate number but from my experiences and notes (DC tally) it seems for a small escort you get between 75-150 and more for larger destroyers

During a recent long depth charge attack, I went through my logs later and counted 28 "Depth charge in the water" messages. Right after the last one, the destroyer broke off the attack. I'm assuming he was out of depth charges.

i think they have about 300 at most. ive had them depth charge me for about 40 minutes and then they start to conserve charges and drop only a few at a time. after that, if theyre part of a task force, theyll often wait until you run out of air. its not like you can get very far.

Is this the stock game or GWX or another supermod? Also, what year was this?

The stock game gave the destroyers a lot of depth charges. GWX reduced that, but I'm not sure where the data is stored so I can't give exact figures.

In the stock game, once the destroyer loses contact with you, after 15 minutes without contact he gives up. GWX raised that to 30 minutes.

I was depth charged from 11:29 to 13:17. At one point the destroyer lost me for 15 minutes, but then found me again. I didn't count the depth charges, but I got the "depth charge in the water" message 28 times. After the last depth charge drop, he sailed away, rather than hanging around circling like they usually do when they lose you and aren't sure where to search, so I'm pretty sure he was out of depth charges.

It takes 18 hours for my air to get to 50%. I'm guessing that would be 36 hours until my crew keels over dead. I can go a LONG ways in 36 hours at 2 knots, over 130 km. At 5 hours I'd be almost 20 km away, assuming they aren't still tracking me and following right above. 36 hours at 2 knots doesn't use much battery either, at least in the GWX Type VIIb.

One thing that seems to affect detection is time compression. If you are running 1x time, they seem to lose you faster than if you're running the highest you can go while being hunted. The detection rules seem to be different. Maybe someone else has more details on this.

Will a task force actually follow you or hang around if they are out of depth charges, especially at 1x time compression? I've been avoiding them. Destroyers, even those not with a convoy, just on patrol duty, leave after they've run out of depth charges from what I've seen, at least early in the war.
